Another Amazing Place - Modřanská Rokle

On the weekends, or any other day we seem to have free, we like to go walking around the beautiful city of Prague.

These walks can be anywhere in the city and part of the appeal is finding new ground, new streets or new parks that we haven't found before.

The weekend just gone was no exception. On Saturday we took a short bus ride down to Sídliště Libuš.

Libuš itself is a small village in the south of metropolitan Prague. However, behind the village is a stunningly beautiful natural area known as Modřanská rokle. The waymarked route that we took follows a stream all the way through the ravine and ends up at Modřany to the west. It is simply a gorgeous walk. It is not too strenuous, it is very flat, waymarked and has tarmac along the majority of the route we took.

It is an area that deserves further exploration as there are so many waymarked walking and cycling trails that to fully explore it may take a few more excursions.

The Covid pandemic has meant an end to weekend breaks or even longer vacations and we were lucky to have arrived in Prague when we did (just before the second wave). This kind of loosely follows on from yesterday's post in that we have to try and find small pleasures and just be grateful for what we have, or in this case what we can actually do.

I am eternally grateful that I can get out and walk and explore my surroundings, it means you become more aware of the things that are near to you instead of perpetually striving to be somewhere else.

Explore your neighbourhood and you may be amazed at what you might find.
